Artist Statement
As a lover of reading and storytelling, my goal is to create paintings and drawings that tell a story through portraiture. Primarily working in oils, acrylic, watercolor and charcoal, I aim to capture the figure and portrait from a more traditional standpoint. I am constantly thinking about using art as a tool to express not only my own pain and trauma, but others as well. I reflect greatly upon my own ancestry and women in my family who have been the foundation and model of what it means for me to be a strong woman. I am constantly inspired by human resilience and how the strength of womanhood can extend through generations.
